Sunset & Step-Free Dining: Strandpaviljoen De Zeemeeuw near Cadzand

Finding a coastal beach pavilion that combines genuine step-free access with great food is always a win. On our way back to Landal Holiday Park Zeebad in Breskens, during a weekend in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, my son Alex and I stopped for dinner at Strandpaviljoen De Zeemeeuw, beautifully located right near the nature reserve ‘t Zwin by Cadzand.

Arrival & Accessibility

For wheelchair users, beach pavilions can often mean navigating tricky sand paths, but De Zeemeeuw makes it easy.

Accessible parking at De Zeemeeuw

Parking: A few designated accessible parking spots are very close to the pavilion. Because we arrived early, we chose to park a bit further away and enjoyed the scenic stroll around the dunes.
– Access: The pavilion features smooth, step-free access and they have an enormous seaside terrace.

– Restrooms: It includes a spacious, fully accessible toilet, a feature that makes a seaside evening worry-free.

The Experience & Food

We had an indoor table right next to the window, treating us to a front-row view of a stunning North Sea sunset.

The menu offers a broad selection, ranging from fresh mussels and local fish to salads, meat, and plenty of vegetarian options. Alex and I decided to order some bites to share, which turned out to be way too much food! I went for the gyoza, which was delicious, and the staff was relaxed.

The Verdict

Whether you are staying in Zeeland or driving up for a coastal weekend getaway from Luxembourg, De Zeemeeuw is an easy, barrier-free sea-side recommendation.

My name is Kimberly, and I visit the Tricentenaire "Centre de jour" in Bissen, Luxembourg, two days a week. In 2018, I had a brain hemorrhage in the area of the brain stem. Since then, I have been using a wheelchair due to balance problems. I speak slowly and unclearly, have some eyesight problems, and don't have much strength or coordination in my right hand and my right side. I am using my left hand to write, type and eat, but as I am originally right-handed, it is a bit of a challenge.

I live in Ettelbruck, Luxembourg, but I was born (1969) and raised in The Netherlands.
